How we score

Scoring

Short version: you score when your version of the match is better than the real one and still believable.

The full math is below, but to start you only need one question: would your lineup have realistically pulled out a better result?

Fan version

Show that you would coach the match better.

Before kickoff you set lineup, formation, style and conditional changes. After the match, Dobitka compares your version with the real coach's decisions and rewards better results, credible risk and useful changes.

You are not guessing the real score

This is not betting and not a bookmaker. You do not need to predict the pitch result. Your job is to show that your lineup, setup and decisions could have produced a better credible version.

1. Result vs pitch

max 50 pts

We compare your simulated result with the real result from your team's perspective. Turning a real defeat into a credible win scores the most.

  • Real match: your team lost 0-2. Your version wins 2-1 = maximum result reward.
  • Same outcome but better margin still scores, for example losing 1-3 instead of 0-4.

2. Credibility

max 25 pts

A better result still needs to look like football. A narrow win or draw can be credible; an 8-0 against an elite team is treated as fantasy.

  • A common 2-1 from the 5,000 runs scores high.
  • A score that appears once in 5,000 runs scores low.

3. Against the crowd

max 25 pts

You score extra when your plan differs from the crowd and the model says that difference helped.

  • A brave but sensible formation that improves the distribution can score.
  • Random contrarian choices without impact do not score well.

4. Coaching decisions

max 20 pts

Conditional substitutions, plan B and responses to cards or injuries are rewarded when they actually matter in the simulation.

  • A 60th-minute change that creates the winning goal can score.
  • A planned change that never enters the match has lower value.
